EXPERIENCE
THE
HUT

Toast Marshmallows...
Grab a blanket and get cosy around your own private fire pit.
Toast marshmallows as you stargaze or cook your dinner over the flames and dine alfresco as the sun sets across the Eden Valley.

We'll supply enough logs for your first fire, with further bags available to purchase on site.

Take a Dip...
Our vintage outside bath gives you a relaxing bathing experience in nature.
With uninterrupted views over the Eden Valley and North Pennines, run yourself a deep, hot, bubbly bath, pour yourself a large wine and relax during a beautiful Cumbrian sunset.

Getting out again will be the difficult bit!

Views for Days...
On a clear day (yes, we do get them!), you can see across to the Pennines from your doorstep, with only rolling farmland, forests and small hamlets to interrupt your view.

You are not overlooked and sit in your own space, ensuring you can enjoy the sunrises and sets in privacy (unless the local farmer is checking their sheep!).
Dog Friendly
We welcome dogs at the hut, with the paddock being fully stock fenced to keep your space secure. Please be aware we are in sheep country, with all surrounding fields containing livestock all year round - if this doesn't suit your dog, please consider whether our hut is the right environment - we want everyone to have a relaxing time!

The hut is a small space, and so we would recommend it being suitable for one large dog or two small/medium dogs - just ask if you have any queries though as we don't have a firm rule.

Dog bowls and towels are supplied, but please bring bedding and everything else you may need for your pooch!

EXPLORE
THE
LOCAL
AREA

Yorkshire Dales
We sit on the north-west edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park; made up of many valleys or 'dales' with their own distinct characters, it is a vast area with a wild and remote beauty.
The many dales share an abundance of limestone scenery; set amongst crags, caves, waterfalls and heather-clad moorland tops, shaped by the people who live and work in the area,

From the towns of Sedburgh, Dent and Hawes to the natural attractions of Malham Cove, Ingleton Waterfalls & the Howgill Fells, there is a vast amount to entertain all itineraries.

Check out the Yorkshire Dales National Park website for up to date events & area information.

Lake District
Within a short 30-minute drive you can be within the Lake District National Park, Englands largest National Park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site - famous for its dramatic beauty, spectacular landscapes and picturesque villages.

The closest lakes to us are Haweswater and Ullswater, however the full area is easily accessed for day-trips using the A66 and M6.
A hotspot for outdoor adventures, culinary excellence and spa opportunities, there is something for everyone (and every weather)!

North Pennines
The North Pennines is a fantastic landscape which incorporates an AONB & UNESCO Global Geopark - characterised by open heather moorlands, tumbling upland rivers and wonderful woods, the area is well worth a visit during your stay.
With the vast expanse of Cross Fell visible from the hut, the area really is on your doorstep. A 20-minute drive will take you to the quaint village of Dufton, from where you can explore the hidden gem of High Cup Nick - an impressive U-shaped glaciated valley. A well-deserved pint awaits you afterwards at The Stag Inn.

ACTIVITIES
&
ADVENTURES

Hiking & Trail Running
Your options really are endless, with trails from your doorstep or within a short drive of the hut.
Bagging the Wainwrights? We're a great base for the Eastern and Far Eastern Fells. There are so many great hikes for all abilities - we can recommend many - especially those with a pub at the end!

Do you prefer a faster-paced adventure? We're in a trail-running hot-spot, with many excellent routes to be explored! A lot of events also run within the area, including fell-running, ultra and canicross events - treat yourself to a stay with us and relax pre- & post-race!

Cycling
With a large network of rural roads, cycling in the Eden Valley is a real treat - especially if you love a hill climb! Mountain trails in the nearby Lake District offer a rougher ride, as do the fantastic routes at Whinlatter Forest.

We are located on the Lakes and Dales cycle loop, a 196 mile circular route that takes in the best of the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Eden Valley - why not book a couple of rest days in the middle of your adventure to recuperate?

We have a secure bike and kit storage shed located at the hut, as well as access to an outdoor water point for washing off your kit after a dirty day on the trails!

Wild Swimming & Paddleboarding
The Lake District is a honeypot for water sports, with many of the tarns, rivers and lakes being accessible and a great way to experience the landscape - a wealth of information is available on the LDNP website in regards to permission and access. Ullswater is the closest lake, with a number of companies operating boat and paddleboard hire if you don't want to bring your own.

Closer to the hut, we have Sunbiggin Tarn and Rutter Falls within a 5-10 minute drive, both are great spots to access cold water therapy when the conditions are right.

In 2024, we've also had a fantastic number of displays from the Northern Lights – or aurora borealis. We recommend downloading the AuroraWatchUK app and keeping the alerts on whilst you're with us so you can be notified of displays.

Cosy up next to the camp fire and look up!
